I read the book "White Christmas Pie" awhile ago.  It's a story about an guy who was left with an Amish family when he was a kid and his Dad didn't come back for him, anyway this pie in mentioned in the story several times and the receipe was at the back of the book.  I thought "I'd like to make that."  So yesterday, I did.  It was very labor intensive, I think even without my disease I would have been exhausted after making this.  Had to use lots of dishes too. but it was fun to be baking again.  Anyway I just had a piece and it is quite good but you must love coconut.  I also think it's one of those pies that probably taste better after sitting for a day (like some cakes).  Then my thoughts went to how do the Amish, who don't use electricy, whip the whipping cream and egg white fast enough to make them stiff and peak?

Finally got the part 2 on iTunes of the divorce sermons by Pat from 8/31.
Terry had to take the car to work today because it was pouring this morning.  He will come home early and we will go vote together, but we probably won't get free coffee, ice cream or donuts.

I was semi-watching a show last night when they were talking about Andy Griffith and some political commercial he was making.  He is 82 and they said something about him combating a paralyzing disease.  well, that sure perked up my ears.  I look him up on-line and he has Guillian Barrea syndrome (which is in the same family as polymyositis, what I have).  He got it when he was about 57 and was paralyzed for about 7 months.  I don't remember ever hearing about this before or maybe it just didn't get my attention since I had no clue about these diseases then.  He has lived a long time with one of these nasty diseases so I guess there is hope.  Anyway It just made my mind ponder things for awhile.

After working for the same company for 14 1/2 years you'd think I know what was coming.  I have been on disability for 5 months and today got a call from a friend.  My office has been cleaned out (they want me to come look through the boxes) a new person has been hired and given my office, my name has been taken off the office mailboxes and my picture has been removed from the Senior Staff Board. Hurt isn't a strong enough word for how I feel.  I know they never likes when people were out on disablility and were always trying to find ways to get rid of people but, dumb me, it never occured to me that they would do it to me too.  I've tried to call several diability and employment agencies to find out my rights but they have all said they don't deal with that.

Being alone has be ok so far.  Yesterday I got together a box & bag of stuff to donate to a group that comes by ever other month.  Today's plan is to work on the pantry and get some order back in that room, if my hands cooperate.  I was sick twice during the night.  I had crab ragoons for dinner (which I love) but when I went to get rid of the box, I noticed it said sell by 6/08.  Now I just bought these on Sunday and I'm usually pretty good at checking the experation date but didn't this time.  Lesson learned.

For those with cats, I have found a new treat that drives them crazy.  It's pounce crunchy catnip flavor.  Can't get them out of the bag quick enough.

Terry's trip is going good so far.  He had one rain storm and several horse trailers to contend with on the road, he told be he kept getting stuck between people with horse trailers in Utah.  He should be in Wyoming by now and to his destination today.  The opening is on Saturday that gives him a day to settle in and look around.

I have never in my life been interested in politics and surely never wanted to listen to a political speech but I really wanted to hear Sarah Palin last night and I was not disapointed.  The race has become interesting and I wish she was running for president not VP.

Today was the best day I have had in 5 months.  some stiffness but no pain.
My mother was over today and we had one of the weirdest conversations I think I have ever had with her.
An interesting day all around.

I've had two bad days since we returned from our trip.  Exhausted and a lot of pain.  I finally took some pills last night and was able to get 3 1/2 hours of sleep.  I hate taking pills.  I tried to go to Costco this morning with Terry.  Made it most of the way through the store but got tired (didn't have the wheelchair) so I went to the food area to sit and rest and wait for Terry.  I must have looked bad because people came up to me and asked if I was ok or if I needed water.  I was breathing rather hard.  oh well, I'm ok after getting a little more rest.

Pat I am mentioning your name, cause you say I never do, but I don't think you read this blog anyway!

A Letter Meme: Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list
ten things you LOVE that begin with that letter. Afterward, post this in
your journal and give out some letters of your own.  My letter is V

Maybe this sould have been Terry's letter:

V-rod motorcycle
Vulcan's
Violas
Vikings
variety
visitors & visiting
vegatab;es (planting not eating)
vases
vests
valleys

Ok maybe they're not all LOVE things but they did each bring a smile to my face.
